Dulana Serengeti South- Hunters // Tembo South Camp
Southern Serengeti, on the edge of Hidden Valley, Tanzania
- 22 guests
- 10 bedrooms
- 14 beds
- 10 bathrooms
Tembo South Camp sits on the edge of Hidden Valley, a little-known depression on the southern plains of the Serengeti. With a remote and isolated feel, the camp enjoys uninterrupted views across the shallow valley, where wildlife can often be seen from the comfort of the accommodation tents.
Built on a heritage mobile camp model, Tembo moves seasonally to follow the path of The Great Migration as the herds move in search of better, life-giving grazing. Camp is broken down and set up again in prime wildlife locations to maximise access to this incredible spectacle.
Amenities
Living Spaces
The main lounge and dining tent are the social heart of camp, with comfortable seating, considered detailing and uninterrupted views across the southern plains. A perfect setting for long lunches between drives, late afternoon teas, and evenings spent recounting the day's sightings over a glass of something cold.
Bedrooms & Laundry
Ten generously sized safari tents, each fully ensuite, with quality linens, soft lamplight and the gentle canvas walls that have defined African safaris for a century. The configuration accommodates couples, families and groups travelling together, with two specialist tents designed for shared use. Laundry service is included as part of the camp's full hospitality offering.
Kitchen & Dining
Camp meals are prepared by the resident chef and served in the main dining tent or al fresco beneath the acacias. Bush breakfasts, sundowner stops and private dining experiences out on the plains can be arranged on request, with menus that celebrate fresh, considered cooking in the wildest of settings.
Bathrooms
Every tent features its own ensuite bathroom, fitted with quality fixtures, plush towelling and the considered details that distinguish a true safari camp.
Entertainment
The plains themselves are the camp's greatest entertainment, with wildlife often visible from the tents. Evenings centre on the fire pit beneath a vast canopy of stars, where the silence is broken only by the distant call of a hyena or the deep rumble of a lion.
Heating & Cooling
Tents are designed for the gentle climate of the Serengeti's southern plains, with canvas construction, mesh windows and natural ventilation. Hot water bottles and warm blankets are provided for cooler nights.
Internet & Office
Wi-Fi available in the main areas, allowing guests to stay in touch when needed. The camp's remote setting is designed for genuine disconnection, with the freedom to log off entirely.
Location Features
The camp sits on the edge of the off-road driving area in the southern Serengeti, giving immediate access to the short grass plains, a prime territory for resident cheetah and lion prides. Hidden Valley itself forms a natural corridor for migrating wildebeest and zebra moving between open plains and surrounding woodlands.
Outdoor Spaces
Open verandahs in front of each tent invite long, slow afternoons watching the plains. A central fire pit anchors the camp after dark, with sundowner spots positioned to make the most of the Serengeti's famously dramatic skies.
Parking
Open 4WD safari vehicles are based at camp throughout your stay.
