Tembo North epitomises the true spirit of romance under canvas. With its westerly setting, each tent is positioned to maximise uninterrupted views across the classic Serengeti landscape, with billowing fabrics and curated comforts that capture the magic of the bush.
Built on a heritage mobile camp model, Tembo moves seasonally to follow the path of The Great Migration as the herds move in search of better, life-giving grazing. Camp is broken down and set up again in prime wildlife locations to maximise access to this incredible spectacle.
Amenities
Living Spaces
A single combined mess and lounge tent forms the social heart of camp, with comfortable seating, considered detailing and the African breeze moving freely through its open canvas. Long lunches between drives, late afternoon teas and evenings spent recounting the day's sightings over a glass of something cold all unfold in this one elegant space.
Bedrooms & Laundry
Ten generously sized safari tents, each fully ensuite, with quality linens, soft lamplight and the gentle canvas walls that have defined African safaris for a century. Billowing fabrics and curated comforts give every tent the feel of a private retreat. The configuration accommodates couples, families and groups travelling together, with two specialist tents designed for shared use. Laundry service is included as part of the camp's full hospitality offering.
Kitchen & Dining
Menus are individually crafted to guest preferences and paired with a curated selection of southern African wines, beers and soft drinks. A full bar is always available. Bush breakfasts, sundowner stops and private dining experiences out on the plains can be arranged on request, with cooking that celebrates fresh, considered flavours in the wildest of settings.
Bathrooms
Every tent features its own ensuite bathroom, fitted with quality fixtures, plush towelling and the considered details that distinguish a true safari camp.
Entertainment
The plains themselves are the camp's greatest entertainment, with wildlife often visible from the tents and main mess. Evenings centre on the fire pit beneath a vast canopy of stars, with the calls of the surrounding bush as the only soundtrack.
Heating & Cooling
Tents are designed for the dry-season climate of the northern Serengeti, with canvas construction, mesh windows and natural ventilation. Hot water bottles and warm blankets are provided for cooler nights.
Internet & Office
Wi-Fi available in the main areas, allowing guests to stay in touch when needed. The camp's remote setting is designed for genuine disconnection.
Location Features
Set in the far north of Serengeti National Park, directly in the path of the migrating wildebeest and zebra en route to the Mara River. This region hosts the Great Migration during the dry season, alongside dramatic kopje rock formations, river crossings and open plains filled with mammals and birdlife. The westerly setting gives the camp its signature sunsets, golden afternoons and long, romantic dusks.
Outdoor Spaces
Open verandas in front of each tent invite long, slow afternoons watching the plains. A central fire pit anchors the camp after dark, with sundowner spots positioned to make the most of the Serengeti's famously dramatic skies.
Parking
Open 4WD safari vehicles are based at camp throughout your stay.
